Mike & Mike: On The Fringe!
Using Retirees to Address the Skilled Labor Shortage
OCILB CEU 1HR Business
Tuesday, January 14th
2:00 PM Eastern / 1:00 PM Central
With megaprojects underway in several parts of the country, contractors and union hiring halls are struggling to meet the demand for skilled tradespeople. One option to help address this shortfall is to modify pension rules to allow retirees to return to work without jeopardizing monthly benefit payments. When properly structured, temporary modifications to “suspension of benefit” rules can work to the advantage of the contractors, unions, retirees, and pension plans. Join Mike Rust, Mike Ledbetter, and special guest, Pierce Martin, from United Actuarial Services to discuss how these programs are structured and issues that need to be considered.
Mike Ledbetter, President, and Co-Owner established the Ledbetter Parisi, LLC firm in 2006. Mike regularly speaks at conferences hosted by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and has authored articles published in the Foundation’s Benefits and Compensation Digest.
Mike Rust, President and an owner of Cuni, Rust & Strenk in Cincinnati, Ohio has over 30 years of actuarial consulting experience. He specializes in multi-employer pension and health and welfare plans and has extensive experience preparing projections of the future funding requirements of these plans.
